Our President tells us gun control is now his number one issue. He has outlined a twenty three point gun control executive order. I think Mr. President you have awakened a sleeping giant.
On December 14, 2012, twenty three elementary school children were stabbed and hacked by a crazed individual with a machete. No, I’m not talking of Newtown, Connecticut, I’m talking of the Peoples Republic of China. Since March of 2010 twenty five school children have been hacked to death and one hundred fifteen others were injured. Guns are not allowed in China. It was not done with assault machetes but rather the kind used to chop weeds and agriculture products. A similar one is currently on sale in this country for $4.95 at Harbor Freight. Experts in China blame mental health issues. There is no outcry to ban the machete.
Let’s look at some facts –
Fact: Gun free zones are killing fields for the deranged.
Fact: The state of Vermont has the least restrictive gun laws in the nation. It is the only state that allows a citizen to carry concealed without a permit. It has the third lowest crime rate in the nation.
Fact: A 1997 high school shooting in Pearl, Mississippi was halted by the school vice principal after he retrieved his 45 from his truck.
Fact: A 2002 terrorist attack at an Israeli School was quickly stopped by an armed teacher and a school guard.
Fact: A 2002 law school shooting in Grundy, Virginia came to an abrupt conclusion when students carrying firearms confronted the shooter.
Fact: A 2007 mall shooting in Ogden, Utah ended when an armed off duty police officer intervened.
Fact: A 2009 work place shooting in Houston, Texas was halted by two coworkers carrying concealed weapons.
Fact: A 2012 church shooting in Aurora, Colorado was stopped by a member of the congregation carrying a concealed weapon.
Fact: A masked, heavily armed gunman stormed a Portland, Oregon Mall on December 11, 2012 shot and killed two before private citizen Nick Meli with a concealed carry permit challenged the shooter with his semi automatic pistol. The shooter immediately killed himself.
Fact: Australia outlawed all guns and over 640,000 were turned in. An eighty one year old grandmother refused. Her granddaughter was recently raped. The grandmother personally hunted down the two rapists. She shot one’s manhood completely away and significantly shortened the other’s abilities.
Fact: The first year following the turn in, homicides went up 6.2 percent, assaults up 9.5 percent, armed robberies up 44 percent.
Fact: In the early 70’s airline hijackings became common place. We allowed pilots to become trained and carry concealed if they chose and expanded the sky marshall program significantly, dwindling airline hijacking. Isn’t it time for our schools to consider what the airline industry did?
It seems our President has chosen the old adage, “Don’t confuse me with facts, my mind is already made up”.
